The Malaysian FA (FAM) has announced the names of players called up to phase one of the 2018 U-19 AFC Championship training camp on Tuesday.
Interestingly, the 24-player list comprises 10 new faces while many of those who were in the Malaysia squad who in September finished runners up in the 2017 U18 AFF Championship, such as Kedah starlet Akhyar Rashid, will join the camp later, as they are still involved in the knockout stages of the Youth Cup and the President’s Cup with their respective clubs.
The names listed for the first phase will report for the first day of camp on Thursday October 5. They are:
The camp will be held in preparation for the 2018 U19 AFC Championship qualifiers, which will be held in South Korea beginning October 31. Malaysia have been drawn in Group F along side South Korea, Timor-Leste, Brunei and Indonesia, and head coach Bojan Hodak’s boys will leave for the qualifiers on October 28.
