Just five days after the end of the World Cup, City kicked off their pre-season tour in the United States, taking part in the International Champions Cup alongside the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United and Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola’s side joined a host of other European clubs in participating in the International Champions Cup (ICC) this summer.

A Mario Gotze goal saw them lose their opening game against Borussia Dortmund 1-0, with Liverpool coming from behind to take a 2-1 win in New York.

City pulled off a comeback of their own against German giants Bayern Munich, storming back from two goals down to take a 3-2 win. 

The Community Shield was last up, pitting the Premier League champions against FA Cup winners Chelsea, with City ultimately coming out on top with a 2-0 victory.

Manchester City completed a club-record move for Leicester City midfielder Riyad Mahrez for £60 million ($77m) after expressing interest in signing the forward previously in the January transfer window.

Guardiola is expected to make more signings before the end of the transfer window on August 9, and released former Ivory Coast international Yaya Toure from the club after eight years at the Etihad.

Man City 2018-19 Premier League fixtures

The Premier League fixtures were officially released on June 14 and Guardiola’s men will begin the defence of their title with a trip to the Emirates Stadium to face Unai Emery’s Arsenal.

City then host Huddersfield Town at the Etihad Stadium the following week, before travelling to Molinieux to face newly promoted Wolves. Home games against Newcastle United and Fulham - another promoted team - complete their opening five matches.

The first Manchester derby of the campaign against rivals United will be played at the Etihad on November 10, with the corresponding fixture taking place at Old Trafford on March 16, 2019.
