Jamie, who lives in Ontario, goes by the name RiddimRyder online and has more than 59,000 subscribers on YouTube. He captured viral attention after sharing a picture of the unusual find on Reddit.
With more than 42,000 upvotes on Reddit’s r/mildlyinteresting forum, the picture shows the strange space filled with antlers.
Jamie told Newsweek: “Exploring abandoned places has been something I have done all my life. Anything from houses to power plants to asylums and beyond. It’s the mystery of places coupled with fear.
“Getting to see what oftentimes the general public doesn’t get to see, it’s a rush but also a different perspective on history.”
The factory in the picture first opened in 1915, when it manufactured grinding wheels and sharpening abrasives. But by the economic downturn of the 1980s, the factory was shut down, and today the building sits abandoned.
Described as “old school industrial” by RiddimRyder, the space is still filled with unusual items, including one floor filled with old fairground rides.
Perhaps the most unnerving space though was the room completely filled with antlers.
“The antlers are really odd to say the least,” said Jamie. “I had been to this factory several years earlier and definitely did not see them there. I really have no idea why they are there or even how they filled that space the way they did.”
The picture shocked and confused users online—one of which said: “You have interrupted the ritual,” while another Redditor wrote: “Deer god.”
“Looks like a poacher stash to me,” suggested another reply. “Though why they’d keep these is beyond me.”
Another person who saw the r/mildlyintersting post was very impressed and wrote: “This is beyond mildly interesting. I’m completely intrigued.”
“It seemed as if they were dumped in from above,” said Jamie. “But there was definitely no way that could have happened.”
Quickly gaining a huge viral reaction online, users rushed to react, and Jamie found he had to mute his notifications. “I honestly couldn’t even consider trying to keep up with it,” he said.
“My dog would go ballistic in this room,” joked one Redditor, meanwhile others pondered on the potential value of such a huge stash of antlers.
“There’s a market for those $$,” said one Redditor while another joked: “Could make some real doe.”
