FOX 8 reported the investigation into Salvador Espinoza Escobar began on January 22 after receiving a tip from the National Human Trafficking Tip Line. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office took him into custody the same day and extracted the victim from his home. They allege that he held a woman prisoner for five years, demanding that she perform sex acts in exchange for unspecified “basic needs.” Law enforcement is working with the Department of Social Services and North Carolina-based refugee resettlement group World Relief Triad to help her transition into a life of new-found freedom....

Ny’Jshore J. Green was taken into custody on November 22 by officers of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). He is accused of fatally beating the young boy, resulting in a “large skull fracture.” Green faces one charge of homicide by child abuse. The Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office initially responded to an emergency call on November 16 in Manning, South Carolina. Once at the home, they found the infant “unresponsive and cold to the touch,” according to an arrest warrant obtained by Law & Crime....

Fi Duong is one of more than 520 people charged so far in relation to the riot, dozens of whom have been linked to far-right groups like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers. Duong has been charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction of an official proceeding and knowingly entering a restricted building without lawful authority, the Associated Press reported. He also told an undercover FBI agent that he conducted “surveillance efforts” on the Capitol a month after the riot took place and was part of a militia group, for which the agent attended meetings....

Shaquille Rowe, 27, was first arrested on Wednesday for the death of the 17-month-old Monday in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He posted $50,000 bond and was released from jail later that afternoon. Fort Wayne Police stated that Rowe was arrested again in his home shortly after. The Allen County Coroner’s Office said the child died of blunt force injuries of the chest on Monday, ruling his death a homicide. A probable cause affidavit stated that Rowe heard crying when he was in the shower, and he got out to find that the toddler was on the ground beside an inflatable air mattress, wheezing as he was not breathing....

The incident took place on August 25 at approximately 6 p.m. during the two-day Notting Hill Carnival in London. The victim was rushed to a first aid post, then hospital, after approaching officers while “bleeding heavily and in shock,” the Metropolitan Police said. Authorities said a man she didn’t know walked up to her and said “I’m the devil” before biting her on the face. In an appeal for information, the suspect was described as a black male with short black hair and muscular build, believed to have been wearing a black T-shirt....

The officers, from Prince George’s County Police Department, attempted life-saving measures before the man was transported to hospital, PGPD’s director of media relations, Jennifer Donelan, said during a news conference late on Monday. The blast, which took place at around 4 a.m., caused significant damage to a three-story building on Calle Alcón in the center of Ponferrada, a city in northwestern Spain, Spanish media reported. Ivan Alejandro Robles, 41, has been sentenced to life in jail after pleading guilty last week to the charge of continuous sexual abuse of a young child. She had found Robles sexually assaulting her daughter, telephoned emergency services and told the operator she was going to shoot him....

Adam Ravenhall, 29, has been hailed as a hero by Neil Lacey, the landlord of The Mount Pleasant Pub in Kingswinford in the West Midlands, after saving the dog from a potentially life-threatening fall. Ravenhall’s heroics were captured by a 10-second section of CCTV footage posted to the bar’s Facebook page by the landlord last Sunday. In the clip, Ravenhall can be seen in the venue’s outdoor area with a group of friends, preparing to catch something flying in from above....

The incident began on Monday evening at Saint-Lazare station after a man was stopped for not wearing a mask and refusing to comply with officers, BFTV reported. The man is then alleged to have brandished a knife and charged at officers shouting “Allahu Akbar,” before he was shot twice in the chest by authorities, according to French media. The man is said to be in a life-threatening condition following the incident, which took place at one of the busiest stations in Paris....
