According to CNN, Dutchess County’s Joshua Seguine, 40, first came to the attention of law enforcement when he was arrested in Georgia in 2017. Seguine was initially charged for driving without a license, but an officer from the Department of Natural Resources also found five live sharks in a circular tank located in the back of his truck. Seguine admitted to transporting the sharks to his New York home, where he said he kept several others....

A preliminary investigation concluded that Watts had fallen asleep in a commercial dumpster, potentially to escape poor overnight weather. The contents of the dumpster were then loaded in a garbage truck equipped with a mechanical compactor. Watts suffered fatal injuries when the compactor was activated, police believe. On Tuesday, 69-year-old Manchester Township resident Jack Gotfried was killed by a man who came by his house to pick up some furniture Gotfried had listed for free. The man, who was identified as 62-year-old township resident Kevin Noonan, has since been arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death, according to NJ.com. The bizarre nature of the hit-and-run has investigators speculating that Noonan was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time....

Matthew Tratt, 36, died after he was bitten on the leg by a shark around 2:00 p.m., local time, as he was spearfishing in the ocean, Australia’s ABC News reported. An investigation by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) found that Guerly Estimé, of Montreal, received nearly $144,821, which is about $117,008 in American currency, by claiming 12 imaginary children for benefits between 2007 and 2018, the tax agency said. Estimé pleaded guilty on Saturday to making false or deceptive statements and forgery in a Montreal courthouse. He was ordered to serve a two-year conditional sentence—typically a form of house arrest—followed by three years of probation....

Gillespie, 60, was arrested and charged Friday with assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers, civil disorder, engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds, plus additional offenses. Timothy Heaton is a former Suffolk County correction officer who was just two weeks away from retirement when he fell ill with the virus. He was hospitalized in September 2021. Heaton’s condition deteriorated to the point where his kidneys failed and he fell into a coma for six weeks. A number of times, the man’s family came to his bedside and he was given last rites.
